The Ayr War memorial can be in Wellington Square, in Ayr, Scotland.
The memorial takes the form of a large obelisk made from granite with
panels made from bronze and is dedicated to around a thousand men who
fell in World War 1 and World War 2. The architect was James Kennedy
Hunter, of Ayr, and H. H. Martyn and Co. It was initially dedicated
by Revd W Cairns Duncan and unveiled by Sir Hugh M Trenchard 13 April
1924 and rededicated 11 November 1956. There are 802 names listed for
World War 1, 254 for World War 2 with an addiitonal 14 names of World
War 2 Civilians.
