This memorial is located in Pinwherry School, on Rememberence Day the children of the school and members of the public take part in Rememberence Service. Pinwherry itself is situated on the A714 between Girvan and Barrhill.

Private 256411, 52nd Battalion, Canadian Infantry (Manitoba Regiment). Died 28th September 1918. Aged 31. Born 2nd MArch 1887 in Ayrshire. Resident Sloow, Saskatchewn, Canada. Son of Hamilton and Helen Burton, of Drumgrier, Pinwherry. Unmarried. Religion Presbyterian. Blacksmith by trade. Enlisted 3rd January 1918 at Regina, Saskatchewn, Canada aged 30 years 10 months, height f5 feet 8 inches, girth 42, complexion red, eyes blue, brown. Buried in CREST CEMETERY, FONTAINE-NOTRE DAME, Nord, France. Plot/Section/Row B. Grave 32. National Archives of Canada Accession Reference: RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 1324 - 45
