Also served as Lt.-Col. in the Royal Corps of Signals. Captain of Great Britain Dewar Team at Bisley, 1936. His son, Maj. John Patrick Salmond, M.C., also died on service. Sec. G.7. Grave 247.

Major 95244, Royal Warwickshire Regiment. Died on Monday 28 August 1944. Age 24. Son of Lt.-Col. Hugh Austen Bentinck Salmond, and of Ellen Salmond, of Bedford. His father Lt.-Col. Hugh Austen Bentinck Salmon [Flt. Lieut., R.A.F. (V.R.)] died in the United Kingdom. Buried in Montecchio War Cemetery, Italy. Grave II. A. 16.
