DUNSTABLE CEMETERY MILITARY GRAVES

Dunstable Cemetery, is situated in West Street, Dunstable; it first opened as a burial facility for the people of Dunstable and the surrounding areas in 1861. There are 48 War Graves from World War 1 and World War 2; 23 Commonwealth war graves from the First World War and 25 from the Second World War. Graves within the Cemetery are arranged in sections determined on faith grounds and they are currently split into consecrated (Church of England) and non-consecrated (all other faiths).

1914-1919

ABBISS	George	Private 202803, 11th Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment. Died at home on 26th March 1920 aged 40. Husband of Elizabeth Mary Abbiss of 151 High St. South, Dunstable. Buried in Dunstable Cemetery. Plot E.177.
BARNES	Arthur Silas	(Served as Stevens) Rifleman 59215, 2nd Battalion, Rifle Brigade. Died at Rugeley camp, Staffordshire on 10th August 1919 aged 17.Of High Street North, Dunstable. Buried in Dunstable Cemetery. Plot E.204.
BIRD	Ernest Rueben	Private 31902, 6th Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment. Died of wounds at home on 26th October 1917 aged 20. Son of Jesse and Lizzie Bird of 56 Capron Rd, Dunstable. Buried in Dunstable Cemetery. Plot E.82.
CLARKE	Henry Edward	Corporal 18660 Bedfordshire Regiment, 4th Battalion Died 20th December 1916 aged 33. Husband of Ellen Caroline Clarke, Resident of Kensworth. Buried in Dunstable Cemetery. Plot E.719.
COOK	Hubert	Private 7383 Bedfordshire Regiment, 2nd Battalion Died at home on 26th July 1916 aged 17 Son of Walter and Annie Cook of 7 Tavistock St, Dunstable Buried in Dunstable Cemetery Plot E.689.

PRATT	Frederick Walter	Private 5950183 Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment,6th Battalion Died at Lowestoft, Suffolk on 13th January 1942 aged 20 Son of Walter Richard and Beatrice Annie Pratt of 242 West St, Dunstable Buried in Dunstable Cemetery Plot T.415. Frederick Walter Pratt, of the Beds and Herts Regt., son of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Pratt, of 242, West-street, Dunstable, has met his death while on active service. Aged 20, he was a Territorial and was mobilised on the outbreak of war. In civil life he was employed in the stereo department at Waterlow’s, Dunstable. The funeral at Dunstable Cemetery on Monday, was conducted by the Rev. C. A. Eastwood, and family mourners were: Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Pratt, parents; Mr. and Mrs. H. Janes, brother-in-law and sister; Miss E. Pratt, sister; Mr. and Mrs. H. Pratt, uncle and aunt; Mrs. E. Peck, Mrs. L. Bright, Mrs. G. Dorrington and Mrs, T. Underwood, aunts; Mrs. D, Harvey, Mr. F. Froud and Mr. S. Williams. British Legion representatives at the graveside included Mr. A. Burgess, Chairman, Mr. F. Taylor, Treasurer, and Mr. A. Harris. Mr. A. J. Palmer represented Waterlow's stereo department, and Mr. F. Herbert and Mr. E. Peek represented the Foresters. Amohg floral tributes were wreaths from officers of Pte. Pratt’s battalion, company and platoon, Waterlow’s stereo department, and the Methodist Bible Class.
