There are two memorials in commercial buildings, one in the National Westminster Bank, one in the Post Office.

National Westminster Bank

1914-1918

HEALING

Kenneth

Second Lieutenant, 6th Battalion (Territorial), Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment). Killed in action Friday 27 April 1917. Aged 23. Born 15 December 1893. Son of John and Emmeline Healing, of 13, Chiltern Rd., Dunstable. In the 1901 census he was aged 7, born Kensworth, Hertfordshire, son of John and Emmeline Healing, resident Turnpike Road, Kensworth, Hertfordshire. Admitted to Ashton Grammar School (boys), Dunstable, September 1903, son of J Healing of Wentworth House, Dunstable. In the 1911 census he was a schoolboy, aged 17, born Dunstall (sic), Bedfordshire, boarding at Ashton Grammar School, High Street, North Dunstable, Dunstable, Bedfordshire. Buried in TEMPLEUX-LE-GUERARD BRITISH CEMETERY, Somme, France. Plot I. Row A. Grave 48.

The Post Office

1914-1918

BUTCHER

Richard Percy

Sapper 288438, Imperial Signal Company, Royal Engineers. Died on service Tuesday 31 December 1918. Aged 33. Born Leighton Buzzard. Son of George and Mary Butcher; husband of Elizabeth Butcher, of 41, Billington Rd., Leighton Buzzard. In the 1911 census he was aged 26, born Leighton Buzzard, a Post Office Clerk, son of George and Mary Ann Maria Butcher, resident 4, Lake Street, Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire. Buried in DAR ES SALAAM (UPANGA ROAD) CEMETERY, Tanzania. Plot VII. Row A. Grave 3. See also Leighton Buzzard Roll of Honour.

CREIGHTON

Albert Victor

Able Seaman, C/J 101244, H.M.S. Mercury, Royal Navy. Died at sea Sunday 7 July 1940. Born 2 March 1904 in Peckham, London. First enlisted 2 March 1922 for 12 years, height 5 feet 3 inhes, chest 34 inches, dark brown hair, brown eyes fresh complexion, previously a Fitter's Mate. Buried in the Church of England section of PORTLAND ROYAL NAVAL CEMETERY, Dorset. Collective grave 671.

CREIGHTON Albert Victor of The Royal Naval Barracks Chatham died 7 July 1940 on war service Administration Llandudno 16 December to Elizabeth Eliza Creighton (wife of David Creighton). Effects £173.

Reginald William Joseph

Gunner 1063511, 76 Field Regiment, Royal Artillery. Killed in action Sunday 15 October 1944. Aged 37 (27 on RA Card). Born Radstock, Bath, Somerset, resident Radstock, Bath, Somerset. Son of Alfred and Lily Woodland, of Radstock, Somerset. Buried in OVERLOON WAR CEMETERY, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands. Plot II. Row A. Grave 13.
