MAULDEN WAR MEMORIAL

The Village memorial is to be found on the Flitwick Road/ Ampthill Road, Maulden, and stands on a green in front of the Village Hall. It takes the form of a pillar on a mitred capital with a stepped plinth and the lettering in black on the sides of the plinth. It was unveiled 30th October 1920 by The Duke of Bedford. The memorial cost £233 4s 3d. There are 28 names listed for World War 1.

PETER PORT (FOULON) CEMETERY, Channel Islands, United Kingdom Ref. Sec. A.M. Grave 45. Special Note: HMS Charybdis was a Dido Class Cruiser. On 23rd October 1943, she was torpedoed in the English Channel with the loss of 30 officers and 432 ratings.
