The Vaynor/Y Faenor war memorial is to be found at the roadside on the A470 Merthyr Road, Vaynor, Mid Glamorgan. It takes the form of a Gothic structure with canopy and buttressed columns on each side, giving appearnace of church window, on three stepped base. There are 40 names listed for World War 1 and 17 names for World War 2.

Private 23777, 1st Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment. Born Renhold, Bedfordshire, resident Merthyr Tydvil, enlisted Bedford. Killed in action 23 April 1917.
BETTERTON Charles
[Memorial states 1st Battalion] Private 245060, 2nd/5th Battalion (Territorial Force), Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Killed in action 26 October 1917. Born and enlisted Brecon, resident Merthyr Tydvil, Glamorganshire.

Private 26233, 1st Battalion, South Wales Borderers. Died of wounds 26 August 1916. Born Cefn-Coed, Brecon, enlisted Brecon.
