The
Isle of Ely Constabulary Memorials for both World War 1 and 2 are located
in Wisbech Police Station, Nene Parade, Wisbech. The World War
1 plaque takes the form of a nowy-headed brass plaque on a wooden backboard
with the Isle of Ely Constabulary crest engraved at the top centre,
beneath which the incised inscription is in black lettering. There are
three names listed. The World War 2 plaque takes the form of a nowy-headed
brass plaque on an oak backboard with the Isle of Ely Constabulary crest
at the top centre, beneath which is the enamelled inscription. Once
again there are three names listed.

Corps of Military Police). Died 30th May 1945, age 33. Son of Edmund
Wallace Simpson & Harriett Simpson, of Nottingham; husband of Doris
Kathleen Simpson, of 31 Downham Rd, Ely. Served in Grenadier Guards
1931-35, joined Isle police in 1935, being stationed at Ely until
called up as a reservist in 1939. Buried Delhi War Cemetery, India.
