This memorial is outside the public rooms, beside the main road, through the centre of Hessenford. Three steps lead to the memorial which is in the form of a tapered square plinth mounted on which is a granite wheel cross.

Sergeant 6506, 3rd Battalion, Gordon Highlanders. Died 22nd March 1916. Aged 38. Son of James and Sarah Middleton, of Lockerbie, Dumfriesshire; husband of Rhoda Maria Middleton, of Hessenford, Cornwall. Served in the South African Campaign. Buried in DRYFESDALE CEMETERY, LOCKERBIE, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. Grave Reference 2. 1727.

Corporal 266254, 1st/1st Buckinghamshire Battalion, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. Died 26th August 1918. Aged 22. Commemorated in MAGNABOSCHI BRITISH CEMETERY, Italy. Special Memorial 3. D. 4-6 and 8.
