DOVE HOLES WAR MEMORIAL

World War 1 & 2 - Detailed information
Compiled and copyright © Guy Martin 2008

The memorial can be found in a roadside garden on the Buxton Road, A6, in Dove Holes. It takes the form of a limestone wheel cross on a hexagonal pillar and plinth set upon a three-stepped base. The inscriptions are to be found on the sides of the plinth. There are 36 names for First World War and 6 names for the Second World War. The memorial was unveiled in 1928. In 2000 the memorial was renovated and moved from its original location which was close to the A6. See Chapel-en-le-Frith Parish web site.
