The Bere Regis memorial is to be found in the grounds of St John the Baptist Church, Bere Regis. It takes the form of a cross mounted on a plinth with a two-stepped base the names for World War 1 on the plinth (28 names); a separate stone lists those for World War 2 (4 names).

COX	William George	Ship’s Cook 347466, HMS Good Hope, Royal Navy. Died 1st November 1914, sunk by gunfire from SMS Scharnhorst & SMS Gneisenhau in the Battle of Coronel off the coast of Chile. All hands were lost. Commemorated on Portsmouth Naval Memorial, Hampshire. Panel 5.

Son of Kate Johnson of Bere Regis, Wareham, Dorset, and the late John Josias Johnson. Farmer by trade. Unmarried. Served previously 2 years with 4th (Territorial) Battalion, Devonshire Regiment.
