The war memorial stands in the churchyard of St Mary's in Thorncombe and takes the form of a stone cross on a three tiered stone plinth. The names for thos emen who died in World War 1 are around the first step, the names of those for World War 2 are on the roadside, on the second step. Within the church is an illuminated roll of honour, framed and glazed, covering both World Wars, covering all villagers who served, showing names and regiment/service. The war memorial and roll of honour differ slightly.
