Compiled and copyright © Martin Edwards 2005

The Chingford war memorial is situated at the junction of The Ridgeway and Kings Head Hill. It takes the form of a Celtic cross on a tapered shaft mounted on a plinth with a two-stepped base. The whole stands on a paved area surrounded by a chain link fence. There are 242 names for World War 1. These have yet to be tramscribed. It was unveiled 24th September 1921 by Lord Lamborne and dedicated by the Bishop of Chelmsford. Further details can be found on the Chingford War Memorial web site.
