Private 31295, 2nd Battalion, Essex Regiment. Killed in action 9th April 1917. Aged 33. Born Haverhill, enlisted Warley, resident Helions Bumpstead. Son of Benjamin and Kate Betts, of Haverhill, Suffolk; husband of Mabel Moore (formerly Betts), of F. Passage, 2, Married Quarters, Rifle Depot, Winchester. Buried in FAMPOUX BRITISH CEMETERY, Pas de Calais, France. Plot/Row/Section A. Grave 18.

BRAZIER William

Private 32976, 1st Battalion, Essedx Regiment. Killed in action 14th April 1917. Born and resident Helions Bumpstead, enlisted Haverhill. No known grave. Commemorated on ARRAS MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France. Bay 7.

DYSON Albert

Gunner 32347, 491st Heavy Battary, Royal Garrison Artillery. Died in United Kingdom 20th December 1914. Aged 26. Born and enlisted Haverhill. Son of Mrs. Sarah Dyson, of Chapel, Helions Bumpstead, Essex. Cremated at GREENWICH CEMETERY, London. Listed on the Screen Wall. 1 "C." B. 1069.

EAVES Charles William

[Spelt EVES on SDGW & CWGC] Private 260156, 1st/8th Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment. Killed in action 27th August 1917. Born and resident Helions Bumpstead, enlisted Haverhill. Formerly 202031, Essex Regiment. No known grave. Commemorated on TYNE COT MEMORIAL, Zonnebeke, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Panel 75 to 77.

HAMMOND Arthur John

Private 2397, 1st/4th (City of Bristol) Battalion (Territorial Force), Gloucestershire Regiment. Killed in action 19th october 1915. Born Haverhill, enlisted Bristol. Buried in HEBUTERNE MILITARY CEMETERY, Pas de Calais, France. Plot I. Row M. Grave 14.

HUGHES Charles William

Private 16667, 11th Battalion, Essex Regiment. Killed in action 15th October 1916. Aged 22. Born and resident Helions Bumpstead, enlisted Bury St Edmunds. Son of Alfred William and Emily Ann Hughes, of Camps Rd., Helions, Bumpstead, Essex. No known grave. Commemorated on THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France. Pier and Face 10 D.

JACOBS Stewart

Private SD/5519, 11th Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment. Killed in action 3rd April 1918. Born Balsham, Cambridgeshire, enlisted Grays, Essex. No known grave. Commemorated on POZIERES MEMORIAL, Somme, France. Panel 46 and 47.

Private. 23273, 1/6th Battalion, Essex Regiment .54th. Division. Killed in action at the Third Battle of Gaza 3rd November 17. Aged 28. Son of Frederick & Mary Woodley of Radwinter. Resident of Helions Bumpstead. Enlisted in Haverhill. Buried in Gaza War Cemetery. Israel.

Private 40732, 1st Battalion, Essex Regiment. 29th Division. Killed in action near Arras 14th April 1917. Aged 25. Son of Barnard & Kate Woodley of Castle Camps, Essex. Born Castle Camps and enlisted in Linton. Formerly with the Northamptonshires. Commemorated on the Arras Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.
