Leintwardine is a parish 9 miles south-west of Ludlow and is situated on the road leading from Ludlow to Knighton, and near the confluence of the rivers Tome and Clun. The War Memorial stands in the local cemetery and takes the form of a shaped urn atop a long pillar mounted on an elaborate plinth that is mounted on a six-stepped base. It was unveiled on 24th February 1921. There are 35 names for World War 1 and 6 for World War 2. During World War 1 a large recuperation hospital for First World War injured soldiers was established, employing many local ladies as volunteer nurses. In the Second World War, the village became home for around 150 evacuated children. There are two burials in the cemetery relating to the wars both to be found on the memorial.
