the RFC. He flew to Berkhamstead Christmas 1916 and landed in Kitchener’s
field. Promoted to Flight Commander and a Captaincy and flew many
times over German lines. Accidentally killed in France 31st August
1917 when his plane lost a wing and crashed from1.500 feet. Age
21. Son of Edward and Emily of Boxwell Road. Educated at Berkhamstead
School and was the first schoolboy to install a wireless apparatus
at home. Formerly employed with a ship building firm in Scotland.
