large and impressive war memorial is located overlooking the English
Channel at St Margaret’s-at-Cliffe near Dover. It commemorates
the men who both served and died in the Dover Patrol during the Great
War. The Dover Patrol was a Royal Navy Home Command Naval Force tasked
with guarding the English Channel approaches and denying the enemy its
use during the Great War.
In addition to the
memorial there is a book of remembrance in the St Margaret’s parish
church that contains the names of men belonging to the Dover Patrol
who served and made the ultimate sacrifice in doing so.
