GIBBY John Llewellyn
John was a Flight Sergeant (#812346) with the Royal Air Force (Auxiliary Air Force). He was a resident of 8 Mercer Street, Tunbridge Wells. He was buried in the Tunbridge Wells Cemetery May 30, 1942 (Cons. Sec. 19B, grave 46). He died at the age of 22 May 25, 1942. He was the son of John Rees and Lillie Gibby.
GLEESON Alfred George
Alfred was a Pilot Officer (#176522) with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, 103 Squadron who at the age of 32 died in France July 13, 1944. He is recorded at the Montiers-Sur-Saulx Communal Cemetery (Coll. grave 4-5). He was the son of Alfred and Henrietta Eliza Gleeson of Tunbridge Wells.
GOLDSMITH Frederick Ronald
Frederick was a Private (#589475 V) with the Royal Natal Carabineers, S. A. Forces who at the age of 30 died in Italy June 17, 1944. He is recorded at the Bolsena War Cemetery (II. E. 1). He was the son of George E. and Ellen Goldsmith of Tunbridge Wells. He had been a resident of 14 Dukes Rd., Tunbridge Wells. He is also recorded on the plaque at St James Church, Tunbridge Wells.
GOLDSMITH Herbert Douglas
Herbert was a Private (#6096484) in The Buffs (Royal East Kent Reg. ), 4th Battalion,. He had resided at 69 Grange Rd., Tunbridge Wells. His name also appears on a remembrance plaque at Skinners School. He died at age 27 October 23, 1943 in Greece. He is recorded at the Athens Memorial (Face 5). He was the son of Albert Edmund and Ellen Jane Goldsmith of Tunbridge Wells.
GOODSELL Kenneth Edward
Kenneth was a Flight Sergeant (Air Gnr) (#1337423) with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, 207th Squadron. He is remembered on a plaque at Skinners School. He was buried in the Tunbridge Wells Cemetery March 22, 1944 (Cons. Sec. 16B, grave 822). He died at age 24 August 13, 1943. He was the son of Charles Edward and Elsie Harriet Goodsell of Tunbridge Wells.
GOODWIN John Wellington
He was a Trooper (#7926784) with the Royal Tank Regiment, R. A. C. He was a resident of 153 Upper Grosvenor Rd., Tunbridge Wells. His name also appears on a plaque at St Luke’s Church, Tunbridge Wells. He died at the age of 32 April 8, 1943. He is recorded on the Medjez-El-Bob Memorial (Face 3). He was the son of Ernest Robert and Mary Ann Goodwin and the husband of Caroline Ellen Goodwin of Tunbridge Wells.
GOWER Derek Ivan
Derek was a Captain (#165460) with the Royal Artillery, 33 Field Regt. who at the age of 29 died in France (Normandy on D Day) June 6, 1944. He is recorded at the Bayeux Memorial (Panel 11, Column ?). He was the son of Ivan Llewellyn Gower and Ursula Margaret Gower and the husband of Valerie Vivienne Gower (1918-1999) of Tunbridge Wells. He was a resident of Greenways, Sandhurst Park, Tunbridge Wells. He is also recorded on the plaque at St James church, Tunbridge Wells. he was born September 5, 1915 at Nairobi, Kenya. He was married June 21, 1939, lived in Kent in 1941 and had a son.
GROVE Reginald
He was a Lance Corporal with the Royal Air Force. He is possibly Reginald George Bishop Grove, a Corporal (#505901) with the 73rd Squadron of the Royal Air Force who died at age 31 June 17, 1940 and is recorded on the Runnymede Memorial (Face 3) and who was the son of George Benjamin and Mabel Grove of Kensal Rise, London. He is also recorded on the plaque at St James Church. He was a resident of 26 Duke's Rd, Tunbridge Wells.
GROVES Cecil Frederick
Cecil was a Private (#5192541) with the 30th Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment. He had been a resident of Rusthall Lychgate, Tunbridge Wells. He died at age 32 April 19, 1942. He was buried in the Rusthall (St Paul) New Churchyard (Row 6, Sec A, grave 13). He was the son of George and Charity Groves and the husband of Margery Eva Groves of Rusthall, Tunbridge Wells.
GROVES Lawrence Frank
He had been a Leading Torpedoman with the Royal Navy. Also recorded as a Leading Seaman (#L/J/101563) with the Royal Navy who at age 32 died May 6, 1942 and is recorded on the Chatham Naval Memorial (52. 2).
