WOOLWICH POSTMEN WAR MEMORIAL

World War - Roll of Honour with detailed information
Compiled and copyright © Martin Edwards 2008
additional research Mike Leach

This memorial is in the form of a wooden memorial containing the names of the men who served, and those who died, in World War 1 who were employed as postmen in the Woolwich area. The memorial is still on the wall of the canteen at the Royal Mail Woolwich sorting office, Woolwich, South East London. The sorting office and old Post office building is due for demolition, but the memorial is to be restored and set up in the new sorting office. This new Royal Mail sorting office will be built near Plumsead railway station on Thamesmead. The details of those who died have been listed first on this page followed by those who served not as listed on the memorial.
