The
Stoney Stanton War Memorial is to be found in the grounds of St Micahel's
Church. Stoney Stanton, Leicestershire. It takes the form of a rought
Celtic wheel cross mounted on a shaft and plinth standing on a three-stepped
base. There is knot work on the arms of the cross and the inscription
is in black lettering. There are approximetaly 22 names listed for World
War 1 and none for World War 2. The memorial was unveiled by Colonel
R E Martin and dedicated by the Archdeacon of Leicester on 7 January
1921. The monies were raised privately, £450; the masons were
Mountsorrel Granite Company.
