BARTON UPON HUMBER WAR MEMORIAL

The Barton Upon Humber memorial is to be found at the entrance to the new cemetery in Barrow Road, Barton Upon Humber. It takes the form of three stepped base surmounted by rounded plinth with columns at four points on the sides. This is surmounted by a tapered shaft and Celtic cross with carved inscription in gold painted lettering on the sides of the plinth. There are 169 names for World War 1 and 48 for World War 2. The memorial was originally unveiled by Lt-Col. Harold Graham Wilson and dedicated on 3rd April 1921. Details appeared in the Lincolnshire Star 9th April 1921. The names alo appear for World War 2 in St peter's Church, Barton-on-Humber.
