Harold Bertie

Sapper 121004. 83rd Field Company, Royal Engineers. Killed in action 4th May 1917, aged 21 years. Son of William and Elizabeth Holmes of Braceborough, Lincs. Born North Luffenham, Rutland, enlisted Peterborough, Northants and resident Braceborough, Lincs. Commemorated Lebucquiere Communal Cemetery Extension. II.D.20.

For King and Country.
To the glory of God and in grateful remembrance of Sapper Harold Bertie Holmes, Royal Engineers, who was killed in action at Metz-En-Couture, France on May 4th 1917, aged 21 years.
