CROWLE WAR MEMORIAL

World War 1 & 2 - Roll of Honour with detailed information

The Crowle War Memorial is to be found at the junction of High Street and Church Street. It takes the form of a three stepped stone base surmounted by two stepped granite base, a plinth, a tapered shaft and a stone Celtic cross. There is a carved inscription in gold painted lettering on two sides of the plinth and top steps. There is a black, stone, vase with an inscription on it placed at the foot of the 3 o’clock side of the memorial. The whole memorial is set within an enclosure bounded by a wrought iron fence with gated entrance. There is an oak leaf and Tudor rose design carved on the face of the cross. There are 69 names listed for World War 1 and 22 for World War 2. The mason were Messrs. Tyas and Guest.
