World War 1 & 2 - Roll of Honour with detailed information

The Gedney Hill and district Memorial Hall stands in Hill Gate, Gedney Hill and is a structure built of brick and wood. Two brass plaques have been attached tot he front of the building bearing the names of those who served and those who gave their lives in both World Wars. TH World War 1 plaque contains the details of 48 men who returned and 8 that died. The World War 2 plaque contains the names of four men who all perished.

St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, Seine-Maritime, France. Or Thomas Henry Allen, 8574 Pte, 2nd Suffolk Regiment. Died 9-4-15, Vierstraat sector. Born Lambeth, enlisted Wisbech. 8th Bde, 3rd Div. Both also listed Sutton St Edmund.

16184 Pte, 1st Lincolnshire Regiment. Died of wounds 25-6-16, age 21. Son of Charles Alexander, Holbeach Drove. Heilly Station Cemetery, Somme, France. Also listed Holbeach St John's.

649120 Pte, 4th Btn Canadian Mounted Infantry. 26-4-17. Born Gedney. Labourer, enlisted in 159th btn on 11-4-16. Husband of Mrs Ellen Cooper, New Liskeard, Ontario. Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium.

CH/19377 Pte, HMS Victory, Royal Marine Light Infantry. 4-10-15, age 18. Only son of Mr W & Mrs E Williamson, New York, Lincoln. Native of Gedney Hill. Ford Park Cemetery (formerly Plymouth Old Cemetery), Pennycomequick, Devon.

Note: Lynn, Page, both Seatons & Williamson are also listed on a memorial in the churchyard.
