The village war memorial is to be found at the junction of Main Street and Chapel Hill, Ropsley. It takes the form of a simple obelisk on a tapering plinth. Theer are 22 names for World War 1 and 6 for World War 2. The original memorial was demolished by a milk float in 2001 and damaged beyond repair; it was replaced in 2003.

ABBOTT	Robert Waterfield	Private 74093. 28th Battalion, Canadian Infantry (Saskatchewan Regiment). Died 15th September 1916, aged 27 years. Son of George Cave and Elizabeth Williamson Abbott of Ropsley, Lincs. Commemorated VIMY MEMORIAL.
ATKINSON	Thorpe	Private 7550. 1st Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action 1st November 1914. Born Ropsley, enlisted Lincoln and resident New Brumby, Scunthorpe, Lincs. Commemorated YPRES (Menin Gate) MEMORIAL. Panel 21.
BARBER	John Thomas	Private 40614. 10th Battalion, Essex Regiment, formerly 5840 Lincolnshire Regiment. Died of wounds 17th October 1916, aged 19 years. Son of Harriet Elizabeth Barber of Ropsley, Lincs. Enlisted Grantham and resident Little Gonerby, Lincs. Commemorated CONTAY BRITISH CEMETERY, Contay. III.C.27.
BEE	Albert	Private 98710. Machine Gun Corps (Infantry). Killed in action 22nd November 1917. Born Ropsley and enlisted Grantham, Lincs. Commemorated HERMIES BRITISH CEMETERY. D.10.
BRIGGS	John Thomas	Private 4803. 4th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action 26th June 1916, aged 21 years. Son of William Briggs of Ropsley, and husband of Millicent Briggs of Saxilby, Lincs (late of Thorney, Notts). Enlisted Lincoln, Lincs and resident Newark, Notts. Commemorated WALINCOURT HALTE BRITISH CEMETERY, Saulty. II.D.15.
BROTHWELL	Robert William	Private 15237. 6th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action 13th September 1916, aged 22 years. Son of (the late) William and Betsy Willows (formerly Brothwell) of Humby, Lincs. Born and enlisted Grantham, resident Ropsley, Lincs. Commemorated THIEPVAL MEMORIAL. Pier and Face 1C.
CHANTRY	Percival H E	Private 100664. Machine Gen Corps (Cavalry), formerly 20 Sqdn 3/1st Lincs Yeomanry). Died 16th October 1918 in Egypt. Born Ropsley, enlisted Lincoln and resident Grantham, Lincs. Commemorated CAIRO WAR MEMORIAL CEMETERY. O.309.
CHAPPELL	Ernest Henry	Possibly Private 43004. 2nd Battalion, South Staffordshire Regiment, formerly 40537 Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment). Killed in action 28th April 1917. Born Caunton, Notts and enlisted Grantham, Lincs. Commemorated ARRAS MEMORIAL. Bay 6.
DEAN	Arthur	Private 1947. 2nd Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Died of wounds 8th August 1918. Son of Edward and Sarah Ann Dean of Ropsley, Lincs. Born Colsterworth, enlisted Grantham and resident Ropsley, Lincs. Commemorated GEZAINCOURT COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION. II.O.21.
DOUGHTY	John	Private 27089. 2nd Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment, formerly 5069 Lincolnshire Regiment. Died of wounds 31st May 1917, aged 32 years. Son of Levi and Emma Doughty of Ropsley, Lincs. Born Ropsley and enlisted Grantham, Lincs. Commemorated EUSTON ROAD CEMETERY, Colincamps. V.H.8.
DUNMORE	Harry	Private 17965. 20th Hussars attd 5th Cavalry Entrenching Battalion. Killed in action 13th February 1916, aged 25 years. Son of Henry Dunmore of Ropsley, Lincs. Born Grantham, Lincs, enlisted Nottingham and resident Radford, Notts. Commemorated LOOS MEMORIAL. Panel 2.
FREESTONE	George Edward	Freeston on CWGC. Private 3518. 4th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action 13th October 1915, aged 19 years. Son of William Henry and Mary Elizabeth Freeston of Ropsley, Lincs. Born Ancaster, enlisted Lincoln and resident Ropsley, Lincs. Commemorated LOOS MEMORIAL. Panel 31 to 34.
HAMES	John William	Corporal 67108, 1st Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment. Killed in action 25 March 1918. Born and resident Bulwell, Notts, enlisted Derby. Son of Charles and Martha Hames; husband of Ada Maria Hames, of Crown Hill, Ropsley, Grantham, Lincs. No known grave. Commemorated on POZIERES MEMORIAL, Somme, France. Pael 52 to 54.
HARE	George William	Private 46352. 15th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment), Killed in action 26th October 1916. Son of Joseph and Sarah Jane Hare of Ropsley, Lincs. HIND	Joseph	Private 3143. 28th Battalion, Australian Infantry. Died 3rd May 1917. Son of Joseph Taylor and Esther Hind of 1 State Mill, Manjimup, Western Australia. Born Ropsley, Lincs. Commemorated VILLERS-BRETONNEUX MEMORIAL.

PEATMAN	William	Gunner 204191. A Bty, 241st Bde, Royal Field Artillery. Died 5th February 1918 in Italy, aged 23 years. Son of John and Mary Anne Peatman of Ropsley, Lincs. Born and enlisted Grantham, Lincs. Commemorated BORDIGHERA BRITISH CEMETERY. III.B.6.
TINDALE	Albert Henry	Henry Albert Tindale on CWGC/Henry Herbert Tindale on SDGW, correct name appears Albert Henry Tindale. Private 50365. 8th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Died of wounds 9th October 1918, aged 20 years. Son of Joseph William and Sarah Jane Tindale of Ropsley, Lincs. Born Boothby and enlisted Grantham, Lincs. Commemorated VIS-EN-ARTOIS MEMORIAL. WATMOUGH	Francis T	Possibly Francis Thomas Watmough Corporal 80549. 142nd Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Killed in action 8th November 1917, aged 36 years. WILLOWS	Charles Henry	Possibly Private 203963. 2/4th Battalion, Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Killed in action 3rd October 1917, aged 20 years. DALES	William Philip	Sergeant 955028. 611 Squadron, Royal Air Force VR. Died 5th November 1941, aged 22 years. Son of John Thomas and Ada Dales of Grantham, Lincs. Commemorated RUNNYMEDE MEMORIAL. Panel 42.

SMITH	Kenneth	George Cross. Signalman 2328696. Long Range Desert Group Signals Section, Royal Corps of Signals. Died 10th January 1945, aged 24 years. Born 7th December 1920 at Market Rasen. Son of Bertie and Alice Jane Smith of Louth, Lincs.
