Extract
from Spalding Guardian 22 September 1916, page 5:
Mrs.
G. Bemrose, of Sutton Bridge, has received information that her
youngest brother C.Q.M.S. A. Wilson, of the Sherwoods, was killed
in action on the 7th inst., whilst fighting on the western front.
He was a native of Sutton Bridge, and attended the Council Schools,
and winning a scholarship. Finished his education at Barton Grammar
School, Wisbech. At the time war broke out, he was employed as
a clerk in the police charge office at Alfreton, but, like many
others, thought his place was in the Army. During the time he
has been in the Army he has earned the goodwill of his comrades
and officers, and his Captain writes in praise of his ability
and fearlessness in doing his duty. He was only 24 years of age.
He married only eighteen months ago. Miss Reeve, of, Alfreton,
and leaves the widow and one child, a babe of two months old.
