additional information Estelle Mumby
The
Winterton memorial stands in the grounds of All Saints Church and takes
the form of a three stepped octagonal base surmounted by an octagonal
plinth with a tapered shaft and celtic cross. The inscription is to
be found on three bronze plaques placed on three sides of the plinth.
There were 25 names for World War 1 and 16 for World War 2. In September
2024 a new plaque was added to the memorial for 22 other casulaties,
16 for World War 1 and 6 for World War 2. The Town Council were to hold
a rededication service. The new names are marked '[Addition]'. There
are expanded details for the World
War 1 casualties and World
War 2 casualties.
