Extract
from Limerick Leader. December, 1917.
Soldier
Drowned.
At Limerick Docks.
Driver J Langley, RFA, was accidentally drowned at Limerick Docks
last night. It appears that the deceased, who was about 20 years
of age and a native of London, was with two other soldiers, crossing
the footbridge at the Floating Dock at 10 o’clock when he
missed his footing an fell into the water, which was at ebb tide.
All efforts at rescue proved unavailing, and the dead body of
the unfortunate young man was, after a search, recovered at midnight.
At an inquest held today by Mr J F Barry, J P, City Coroner, a
verdict of accidental drowning was returned.
Note:
The man abovereferred to a J Jangley is actually 651882 Charles
William Langley, Driver, RFA and RHA.
