FRAMINGHAM PIGOT WAR MEMORIAL

World War 1 & 2 - Detailed Information

There are three memorials within St Andrew's church, Framingham Pigot, Norfolk. The first is a white marble plaque with a white cross on a marbled backing containing the names ofr four men who died in World War 1. The second is a printed list of names for World War 2 in a wooden frame. The third is a combined list of the World War 1 and 2 names in a glazed, wooden, frame.

BARKER Arthur Thomas

Private 28050. 9th Battalion, Norfolk Regiment. Killed in action 30th November 1917. Son of Alfred W and Mary Ann Barker. Husband of Gertrude Barker (nee Youngs). Born Lingwood (as SDGW, born Strupshaw on census) and enlisted Norwich, Norfolk. Commemorated Cambrai Memorial. Panel 4.
GRAY Julian Frederick
Military Cross.
Captain. Royal Engineers, attached 1st Field Company, 1st King George’s Own Sappers and Miners. Died of wounds 10th July 1917. Son of George Wyndham and Julia M Gray of Galhampton, SOM. Husband of Winifide M J Gray (nee Bickford) of 5 Ventnor Mansions, Hove, SSX. Born 1885 Upleaden GLS. Pre war regular soldier who served in Abor Expedition 1911-12. Commemorated Ramleh War Cemetery. E.61.
RIVETT Cecil George
Able Seaman R/444, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. Nelson Battalion, Royal Naval Division. Killed in action 15th April 1917. Son of (the late) George and Susannah Ellen Rivett of Framingham Pigot, Norfolk (as naval record and 1911). Born 19th January 1898 Framingham Earl, Norfolk. Commemorated Arras Memorial. Bay 1.
TOMLINSON Clifford John
Private 41269. 10th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Died of wounds 20th September 1917. Son of John William and Christiana Tomlinson of Kirby Bedon, Norfolk. Born 1898 Marlingford, enlisted Wroxham and resident Framingham Pigot, Norfolk. Commemorated Tincourt New British Cemetery. II.B.9.
