HEMPNALL WAR MEMORIAL

World War 1 & 2 - Detailed Information
Compiled and Copyright © Michael Peck 2017

The memorial is to be found at the junction of Broaden Lane and The Street, Hempnall, South Norfolk, Norfolk. It takes the form of a wheel cross set on a tapering shaft on which is carved a wreath. This surmounts a tapering plinth and a base of rough hewn stones. The memorial is set on a gravel surround with small posts at each corner and attached chain link. It was unveiled in December 1919 by Honourable WH Cozens-Hardy MP. There are 21 names listed for World War 1 and 5 for World War 2. Within St Margaret's Church, Hempnall, are two Rolls of Honour. There is also a plaque to those who died in the South African (Boer) War 1899-1902.
