The Salthouse war memorial cross stands in the churchyard of St Nicholas Church. The memorial takes the form of a base surmounted by a plinth, a tapering shaft and a cross. Inscriptions are carved on the plinth upon which the cross rests. There arer thirteen names for World War 1, three for World War 2 and one for Korea. Within the church are two handmade Rolls of Honour recording those who died and also those who served and returned. There are two other memorials within the church, the first is a Book of Remembrance to the men of 61 Squardon and the other a memorial to the Crew of Lancaster LM720 which crashed nearby and was commemorated around 1995 but local enthusiasts.

Lieutenant. 6th Battalion, Rifle Brigade, attached 2nd Battalion. Died 9th September 1915, aged 22 years. Son of Revd Robert Russell and Marcy Elizabeth Cobbold (nee Wanklyn) of the Rectory, Hitcham, SFK. Born Earls Barton, NTH. Buried Y Farm Military Cemetery. M.36.
There is a bell with a dedicatory marble tablet within St Nicholas church to the two COBBOLD's above. The dedication reads:
