The Memorial Cross to the men and women of Sheringham and Beeston Regis who lost their lives during the wars, was unveiled on 1st January 1921. It is the work of Herbert Palmer, it is 26 feet high and made of Clipsham Stone in the style of Queen Eleanor.

A further memorial board can be found in St Peter's Church which stands on the same road as the memorial.

WARDLEWORTH Douglas

Lieutenant, Royal Army Medical Corps. Died 24th October 1914. Age 34. Only son of Douglas Wardleworth, M.D., J.P., and Annie Wardleworth, of Bury, Lancs; husband of Mary Winifred Wardleworth, of Welborne Rectory, Welborne, Dereham, Norfolk. He was, at the time he volunteered to serve in the Royal Army Medical Corps, a doctor in Sheringham. Buried in STE. MARIE CEMETERY, LE HAVRE, Seine-Maritime, France. Division 14 Grave D. 1.

Enlisted Ely, resident Sheringham. Son of Isaac Charles Tooley and Charlotte Elizabeth (Moy) from Belaugh near Wroxham. Married Violet Laura Dunn on the 31 July 1911 in Sheringham and described his place of residence as Sheringham. His occupation was recorded as being that of a Gardener. They had one son Jack Edward Tooley who was born on the 1st July 1916 in Sheringham. Albert's occupation was recorded on the birth certificate as that of a Lance Corporal in the Suffolk Yeomanry.
