The
Wramplingham war memorials take two forms, the first is an exterior
memorial in the form of a cross on a very tall, tapering, shaft mounted
on a plinth with a one-stepped base. The second is inside the church
and is in the form of a wooden board with the names and inscritpion
carved into it. There are seven names listed for World War 1 and one
for World War 2.

Lieutenant Arthur Yorke Bailey was born in c1897 and enlisted in
the 5th Battalion attd. 1st Battalion, Kings Royal Rifle Corps.
He served in France & Flanders and was killed in action on 27th
July 1916 aged 19. He is buried at Thiepval Memorial Pier and Face
13A and 13B and is remembered on the Wramplingham War Memorial.
He was the son of Arthur A. W. and Helen M. Bailey, of Wramplingham
Hall. |

Sergeant
7529 John Stanford Cavalier was born in Buxton Norfolk c1883. He
enlisted in the 5th Brigade Australian Field Artillery Regiment
in Armidale NSW on 24th August 1915 under the alias of John Smith.
He served in France & Flanders and was killed in action on 18th
April 1917 aged 34. He is buried at Vaulx Hill Cemetery Grave II.
G. 17 and is remembered on the Wramplingham War Memorial. He was
the son of the Rev. Edward Frederic Cavalier, M.A., of Wramplingham
Rectory, Norfolk, England, and the late Katherine Louisa Cavalier.
He was a ranchman and a resident of Blackville NSW. |

6943 William Robert Collings was born in Snettisham c1886. He enlisted
in the 1st Norfolk "D" Coy. Regiment in Norwich. He served
in France & Flanders and was killed in action on 14th September
1914 aged 30. He is remembered on the La Ferte-Sous-Jouarre Memorial
and on the Wramplingham War Memorial. He was the son of William
Robert Collings, of Stone Cottage, Wramplingham. |

29769 John Robert Howes enlisted in the 7th Norfolk Regiment in
Norwich. He served in France & Flanders and was killed in action
on 19th September 1917. He is buried at Monchy British Cemetery,
Monchy-Le-Preux Grave I. M. 12 and is remembered on the Wramplingham
War Memorial. |

13604 Frederick William Mitchell was born in Wramplingham. He enlisted
in the 8th Norfolk Regiment in Norwich. He served in France & Flanders
and was killed in action on 1st July 1916 aged 26. He is remembered

War Memorial. He was the son of Walter and Honor Mitchell of Wramplingham. |

M/279858 Percival Ernest Thompson was born in Bungay c1896. He enlisted
in the 976th M.T. Company Royal Army Service Corps in Ilford. He
served in Mesopotamia and died on 29th October 1918 aged 22. He
is buried at Tehran War Cemetery Grave V. E. 10 and is remembered
on the Wramplingham War Memorial. He was a resident of Wymondham. |
