L/Corporal, 110177, Tank Corps. Died at home 20-01-19, aged 25. Son of Mr. J. W. and Mrs. A. E. Mee, Apethorpe. Buried in Apethorpe (St. Leonard) Churchyard, Northants, North-east corner. From Andy Pay's research into the Marquis de Ruvigny's Roll of Honour the following: Volume 2, Part 5, Page 122 - BINDER - MEE, Walter - Lance Corporal, No 110177, Tank Corps Son of James Willaim Mee, of Apethorpe, Peterborough, Forester; born Apethorpe, co. Northampton, 14th March 1893; educated Church of England school there; enlisted in the Tank Corps 28th June 1917; served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders, and died, while home, on leave, at Upton War Hospital, 20th January 1919 of Meningitis, contracted while on active service. Buried in Apethorpe Churchyard. His Commanding Officer wrote: "He proved himself to be a good and willing soldier, and was highly esteemed by his comrades and all ranks, amongst whom his loss is greatly felt, and much regretted."
