TITCHMARSH WAR MEMORIAL

The Titchmarsh memorial is to be found in the grounds of St Mary's Church and is in the form of a two stepped base on top of which is a plinth that holds a shaft topped by a wheeled cross. The inscriptions are in relief on the plinth. There are 24 names for World War 1 and 4 for World War 2.

Corporal, 8880, Archie Thomas Bosworth, 1st Bn. Northamptonshire Regiment. Killed in action 06-12-16. Born Titchmarsh, enlisted Kettering. Son of Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Bosworth, Polo Pitt Street, Titchmarsh, Northants. Brother Wilfred Cyril Bosworth also fell. Buried in Thistle Dump Cemetery, Longueval, Grave E.29.

Private, 200961, 1/4th Bn. Northamptonshire Regiment. Killed in action 19-04-17, aged 22. Enlisted Thrapston. Son of Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Bosworth, Polo Pitt Street, Titchmarsh, Northants. Brother Archie Thomas Bosworth also fell. Commemorated on Jerusalem Memorial, Israel, Panel 40.

Private, 3809, 1/4th Bn. Northamptonshire Regiment. Died 15-07-16, aged 26. Born Wigsthorpe. Son of Samuel Bright; husband of Elsie H. Jeffs (formerly Bright), "Rockleigh, Huntingdon Road, Thrapston, Northants. Buried in Titchmarsh (St. Mary) Churchyard, Northants.

Private, 6729, 1/4th Bn. Duke of Wellington's (West Riding Regiment). Died 07-11-16, aged 24. Formerly 3826, Hertfordshire Regiment. Born Wellingborough enlisted Hertford, resident Titchmarsh. Son of Henry John Brown, Church Street, Titchmarsh, and the late Jemima Brown. Buried in Titchmarsh (St. Mary) Churchyard, Northants.
