Telegraphist D/JX 341037, H.M.S. Kite, Royal Navy. One of 217 lost when the Frigate was hit by two torpedoes from U-344 while escorting Arctic Convoy JW59 21 August 1944. Son of Alfred Elson Cheney and Mary Jane Ada Cheney, of Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. No known grave. Commemorated on PLYMOUTH NAVAL MEMORIAL, United Kingdom. Panel 88, Column 3.
CLARK Henry William
Driver T/142245, 18 Div. Troops, Royal Army Service Corps. Taken prisoner with the 18th. Division in Singapore and died in captivity 12 September 1944. Aged 25. Son of William and Maggie Clark, of Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. No known grave. Commemorated on SINGAPORE MEMORIAL, Singapore. Column 99.

COOPER Leslie Ernest Henry
Pilot Officer 84676, 206 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Flying in Hudson 1 T9324 VX- Based at Bircham Newton. Aircraft crash landed in the sea during the early hours of the morning 17 May 1941 north of the Isle of Sheppey. Three crew members drowned including Leslie Cooper; two escaped injured. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Cooper; husband of Vera Doreen Cooper, of Wellingborough. Buried in WELLINGBOROUGH (DODDINGTON ROAD) CEMETERY, United Kingdom. Block Q. Grave 270.
CROSS Frederick George
Private 5888338, 5th Battalion, Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment. Killed in action in Italy 30 November 1943. Aged 27. Son of Frederick George and Emily Alice Cross, of Wellingborough, Northamptonshire; husband of Evelyn May Cross, of Wellingborough. Buried in SANGRO RIVER WAR CEMETERY, Italy. XVII. E. 13.
