ASTON
TIRROLD UNITED REFORMED CHURCH WAR MEMORIAL
World
War 1 & 2 - Roll of Honour with detailed information
Compiled and copyright © Steve Pickthall 2014
The
Aston Tirrold URC memorial is located with Aston Tirrold United Reformed
Church. It takes the form of a marble plaque affixed to the wall to
the right of the pulpit. The 17 names listed for World War 1 are ordered
rank/year but have been sorted into alphabetical order here for ease
of reading and research. The year may be when they enlisted but it has
been assumed it is the year of death. Aston Tirrold is a village and
civil parish at the foot of the Berkshire Downs about 3 miles (5 km)
southeast of Didcot. It was part of Berkshire until the 1974 boundary
changes transferred it to Oxfordshire. The 2011 Census recorded the
parish's population as 373.
