George Francis Hermitage

Second Lieutenant, 125th Battery, Royal Field Artillery attached 125th Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Killed in action 11th September 1916. Aged 20. Son of the Rev. Dr. and Mrs. E. Hermitage Day, of Newton House, Belmont, Hereford. No known grave. Commemorated on THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France. Pier and Face 1 A and 8 A.



1st Battalion, Herefordshire Regiment possibly John EVANS, Acting Lane Corporal 235997, 1st/1st Battalion, Herefordshire Regiment. Killed in action 23rd July 1918. Born Canon Pyon, herefordshire, enlisted Hereford, resident Bishop's Stone, Herefordshire. Son of Mr. W. Evans, of Burcott Row, Bishopstone, Hereford. Buried in RAPERIE BRITISH CEMETERY, VILLEMONTOIRE, Aisne, France. Plot IIIA. Row E. Grave 3.



Private 15436, "D" Company, 7th Battalion, South Wales Borderers. Killed in action in Salonika 18th Setember 1918. Aged 37. Born Abbey Cwmhir, enlisted St Leonards-on-Sea, resident Lancaster. Son of Elizabeth Lewis, of Abbey Cwmhir, Radnorshire, and the late Thomas Lewis; husband of Annie Lewis, of 16, Wellington Rd., Bowerham, Lancaster. No known grave. Commemorated on DOIRAN MEMORIAL, greece.


Leonard Samuel

Private 238945, 1st (Reserve) Battalion, Herefordshire Regiment. Died in United Kingdom 16th February 1917. Aged 19. Born LLandewi, enlisted Abbeycwmhir (sic), Penybont Station. Son of Samuel and Mary Morgan, of Mill House, Abbey Cwmhir. Buried north-west of the church in ST MARY CHURCHYARD, ABBEY CWMHIR, Radnorshire.

Husband of Mary Helen Wozencroft, of 52, Plantation St., Rhymney, Cardiff. Buried in RHYMNEY CEMETERY, Glamorganshire. Plot/Row/Section A. Grave 412.

Private 95484, 17th Battalion, attached 115th Trench Mortar Battery, Aged 26. Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Killed in action 9th June 1918. Born Knighton, enlisted Rhayader. Son of Richard and Alice Mytton, of Cwmhir Cottage, Abbey-Cwmhir, Penybont Station, Radnorshire. Formerly 2000, Montgomeryshire Yeomanry. Buried in MESNIL COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION, , . Plot II. Row C. Grave 1.
