The Cunningsburgh war memorial is to be found inside Cunningsburgh District Cemetery, Mail, Shetland. It takes the form of a rough hewn, granite stone with a carved face bearing the inscriptions for World War 1 and an additional stone at the base containg the names for World War 2; the whole stands in a three-walled concrete area with steps leading up to it at thre front. There are thirteen names for World War 1 and ten for World War 2.

Major. 173rd Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Died of wounds 3rd April 1918. Son of James and Margaret Garriock of Cunningsburgh, Shetland Islands. Husband of Ethel Allison Garriock of ‘Beverley’, Kaimes Road, Corstorphine, Midlothian, Scotland. Commemorated Gezaincourt Communal Cemetery Extension. I.J.8.
