H.M.S. ICARUS

HMS Obdurate was a 'O' class Destroyer (G39) built by Wiliam Denny, of Dumbarton, she was laid down 25th April 1940, launched on 19th February 1942 and decommisioned in 1964. She had a displacement of 1,540 tons, lenght 345 feet and carried a complement of 175 men. Her maximum speed was 37 knots powered by geared trubines with 2 shafts; power being 40,000 horse-power. She served in the Arctic during 1942-1944, as well as the Barrents Sea 1942 and the Atlantic 1943.
