BATHEALTON WAR MEMORIAL

The memorial stands in the grounds of St Batholomew's parish church, Baltheaton. It takes the form of a plain Celtic style wheel cross on a square plinth with a single step. There are four names for World War 1 and 1 for World War 2.

BURSTON

Robert

Private 15526, "D" Company, 8th Battalion, Prince Albert's (Somerset Light Infatry). Died 14th March 1916. Aged 18. Born Dulverton, enlisted Taunton, resident Wiveliscombe. Son of George and Ann Burston. According to CWGC he was born at Houndsmoor, Milverton, Somerset. Buried in CITE BONJEAN MILITARY CEMETERY, ARMENTIERES, Nord, France. Plot IX. Row F. Grave 20.

PERROTT

Arthur

Private 14497, 8th (Service) Battalion, Devonshire Regiment. Killed in action 25th September 1915. Aged 24. Born Wiveliscombe, enlisted Newton Abbot. Son of James and Bessie Perrott, of Bathealton, Wiveliscombe, Somerset. No known grave. Commmeorated on LOOS MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France. Panel 35 to 37.

BRISTOW

Edward James

Private 10895, 7th Battalion, Prince Albert's 9Somerset Lignt Infantry). Killed in action 14th September 1915. Born and resident Milverton, enlisted Batheaston (sic). Buried in RUE-PETILLON MILITARY CEMETERY, FLEURBAIX, Pas de Calais, France. Plot I. Row A. Grave 14.

DAVEY

Frederick William

probably Frederick William DAVEY, Private 2270, Royal 1st Devon Yeomanry. Killed in action at gallipoli 8th November 1915. Born and resident North Taunton, enlisted Winkleigh. Buried in HILL 10 CEMETERY, Turkey. Ployt I. Row I. Grave 3.

1939 - 1945

REDWOOD

Percy James

Avkle Seaman D/JX 208523, H.M.S. Saunders, Royal NAvy. Died 5th July 1942. Aged 22. Son of Frederick and Hilda Redwood, of Bathealton, Somerset. Buried in HELIOPOLIS WAR CEMETERY, Egypt. Plot 2. Row A. Grave 1.
