Son of Edward and Maria Ball; husband of Elizabeth Ball, of 9, Cross Rd., Sandy Lane, Rugeley. Under Sickness King's Regulation Para 392 xvi he was awarded a Silver Badge 68818 on 28 November 1916; enlisted 10 April 1906; discharged from Army 21 December 1915. Attested at Lichfield 10 April 1906 aged 18 years 1 month, unmarried, prior to enlistment he was in the 2nd Volunteer Battalion, North Staffordshire Regiment. Height 6 feet 1 inch, weight 164lbs, girth 37½ inches, fair complexion, hazel eyes, fair hair, religious denomination Wesleyan. Army Reserve 10 April 1909, mobilised 5 August 1914.
