Vass, (Grocer), and Mrs Sarah Vass of 15, Junction Road/22, St. Leonards Road, Eastbourne. Emigrated to Australia. Born in Eastbourne and enlisted in Carlsruhe, Victoria Greengrocer by trade. No known grave. Commemorated on The Villers Bretonneux Memorial.

Second Lieutenant, 3rd Battalion, Royal Fusiliers. 50th Division. Killed in action 25 May 1915. Aged 18. Son of Ernest Llewellyn Vaughan ICS and Mrs Vaughan, of “Ravelston” Denton Road, Meads, Eastbourne. SJ. Buried in Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension (Nord)

Son of William and Rhoda Veness of 2, New Cottages, The Village, Meads, Eastbourne. Born and enlisted in Eastbourne. Plumbers Mate SJ. (Sgt C.L. Veness). Buried in Etaples Military Cemetery.

Gunner 75551, 80th Battery, 15th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. Died of wounds 22 April 1917. Aged 19. Enlisted Eastbourne in December 1913 as a regular artilleryman. Son of Henry Thomas and Mercy Hannah Vernon of 23, Leaf Road, Eastbourne. Born in Eastbourne. Buried in Aubigny Communal Cemetery Extension.
