Son of Edward Deane-Freeman and Marion Isobel Deane-Freeman (née Scriven). He was from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Born in Victoria on 27 January 1925. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II and became a flight navigator with the rank of Flying Officer. When he was four years old he returned from Canada to England with his mother and was raised there until when he was 14 years old, and WWII began. His family sent him back to Victoria, BC, Canada to live with his father in safety from the war. When he was old enough he joined the RCAF and returned to Europe as a young officer. He was never married and had no children. Buried in BROOKWOOD MILITARY CEMETERY, Surrey. Plot 43. Row H. Grave 6.

HMS 'Triton' was operating in the Southern Adriatic. Was overdue on 18 December 1940. Italians claimed that she was sunk by the torpedo boat Confienza on the 18th, but possibly by the Italian MTB Clio. Lost with all hands.
