Able Seaman J/11149 Royal Navy. HMS "Princess Irene’ Lost when the Minelayer blew up off Sheerness 27 May 1915. The ship was carrying 500 mines and 255 crew members lost their lives along with 160 other naval ratings and Dockyard Workers. There was one survivor. Aged 21 Albert was the son of Mr & Mrs Ralph Herbert Butland of 46, Belfast Street, Hove. Commemorated on The Portsmouth Naval Memorial, Southsea.
