Private 16529, 2nd Battalion, The Bedfordshire Regiment. 30th Division. Killed in action during the March Retreat 22 March 1918. Born in Ringmer and enlisted in Leighton Buzzard. Resident of Swanborough near Iford. Buried in Savy British Cemetery

Boy 1st Class J/54790, HMS “King George V”, Royal Navy. Lost at sea 2 January 1918. Aged 17. Son of William George and Alice Pheobe Cannings of Oatlands Cottage, Iford. Commemorated on The Portsmouth Naval Memorial, Southsea

Captain, 7th Battalion, The Rifle Brigade, (“D” Company). 14th Light Division. Killed in action near Ypres 23 July 1915. Aged 33. Son of Herbert and Louisa Hardy of Chilworth Manor. Commemorated on The Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres , Belgium
