LINCHMERE (LYNCHMERE) WAR MEMORIAL

The memorial resides at Lynchmere (St. Peters) Parish Church which is a beautiful Saxon Church on the borders of Hampshire, Sussex and Surrey between Haslemere and Liphook. It is a quiet spot, well worth a visit. The Memorial is carved in stone on a supporting column containing 28 Names with one name and initial. There is one burial in the Churchyard, included on the Memorial.

Private G/64137, 2nd Battalion, Royal West Surrey Regiment. 7th Division, Killed in action, 4th October 1917. Born and enlisted in Haslemere, Surrey. Formerly with the Royal Sussex. Commemorated on The Tyne Cot Memorial Belgium MR.30

Lieutenant, 6th Battalion Queens Own Cameron Highlanders. 15th Division. Killed in action 31st July 1917. Aged 21. Son of John and Eveline Carrick later of Warren Hill Cottage, Meads, Eastbourne. Buried in Brandhoek New Military Cemetery, Belgium.
