The memorial is sited at the junction of Top Street and Hollow Street, The Green, Hollow Street, Great Somerford, North Wiltshire. It takes the form of a small, floriated, latin cross with an octagonal shaft, standing on a square plinth with a two stepped base. There are 13 names for World War 1 and 5 names for World War 2. The names have been sorted into alphabetical order within conflict.

Lance Corporal 5574281, 5th Battalion, Duke of Edinburgh's (Wiltshire Regiment). Died 1 July 1944. Aged 24. Born 17 April 1920, and resident, Great Somerford, Wiltshire. Son of Percy and Sarah Mary Law, of Seagry, Wiltshire; husband of Beatrice Mary Law, of Seagry. In the 1939 Register he was unmarried, a Coal Merchant Labourer and Lorry Driver, resident with his parents at 2 The Bartons, Great Somerford, Malmesbury R.D., Wiltshire. Buried in BANNEVILLE-LA-CAMPAGNE WAR CEMETERY, Calvados, France. Plot XI. Row E. Grave 4.

Note: Seagry is a few miles south of Great Somerford.

PALMER, MC Julian Llewellen

Lieutenant 67488, 3rd Battalion, Coldstream Guards. Killed in action 16 June 1941. Aged 25. Son of Colonel William Llewellen Palmer, M.C., and Lady Alexandra Palmer, of Great Somerford, Wiltshire. Awarded the Military Cross (M.C.). No known grave. Commemorated on ALAMEIN MEMORIAL, Egypt. Column 53.

PALMER Julian Llewellen of The Manor House Great Somerford Wiltshire died 16 June 1941 on war service Probate Llandudno 22 November to William Llewellen Palmer M.C. retired colonel H.M. army. Effects £26664 14s. 5d.

Lieut. Julian Llewellyn Palmer, M.C., Coldstream Guards, The Manor House, Great Somerford, Wilts, who was killed in action in June last, son of Col. William Llewellen Palmer. M.C., a director of Wessex Associated News Ltd., of Waterton House, near Cirencester, Gloucester, left gross estate of the value of £26,664 14s 5d, with net personalty £25,129 15s. Testator left £100 for the benefit of Coldstream Guards Charities.
