MARLBOROUGH SS PETER AND PAUL WAR MEMORIAL

The memorials are situated in Marlborough Church of St Peter and St Paul, Wiltshire, that is located in the High Street, Marlborough. It takes the form of a wooden reredos screen; the screen is made of three panels with three extra name panels. The inscription is below the picture panels and there are ornate carvings in low relief on the screen with the central panel depicting the resurrection, the lefthand panel depicting St George and the dragon and the righthand panel depicting St Martin. The memorial was unveiled 3 October 1920 with Hurbert Read, the wood carver, Henry Gustave Hiller, the builder and C.E. Ponting, the architect. There are 44 names for World War 1 and 7 form World War 2.
