Boer War - Roll of Honour with detailed information
Compiled and copyright © Martin Edwards 2007
Transcribed Colin and Tina Round 2008

The memorial is to be found in Stourbridge Road, Dudley and is in the form of a tapering base surmounted by a pedestal with four columns in black granite, fluted halfway up, on the sides and ionic capitals on the top. This is then topped by a statue of a soldier wearing a slouch hat, holding a rifle, with a bayonet fixed, charging defending a wounded bugler. The memorial is surrounded by a stone kerb with eight moulded pillars. There are 56 names listed by rank, surname, forename and manner of death. The memorial is maintained by Dudley Borough Council and was unveiled on 23rd September 1904 by Lieutenant-General The Hon. Sir N G Lyttleton; it was designed by Mr H Own Burgess. The names ar elisted by the manner of death and rank on the memorial but have been sorted into alphabetical order here for ease of readign and research.
